Get the JLo glow with Becca: MISS C’S MONTHLY FAVOURITES

Becca Beach Tints Shimmering Skin Perfector

Want to get JLo’s glowy skin and healthy looking flushed cheek? Let Miss C teach you how.

June was all about Becca for me. I love Becca products but for a long time was put off by their price point. This year I decided to take the plunge and invest in a few of their standout products, namely the Beach Tints and the Shimmering Skin Perfector.

Becca is expensive so if I had to choose between the Beach Tints and the Shimmering Skin Perfector, I’d choose the latter without hesitation.

Becca Beach Tints

Colours – Grapefruit, Guava, Apricot and Watermelon
Cost – AUD$42 each for 7ml (ouch!!!) / USD $25

Shade name Description
Grapefruit Universally flattering peachy colour
Guava Lighter berry shade
Apricot Slightly dirty orange colour – like the colour of a lightly bruised apricot
Watermelon Berry shade

If you’re trying to achieve a more natural or cleaner look when applying blush, then this is the product for you.

These products are technically marketed as water-resistant cheek and lip tints. My preference is to use them as blushes.  These beach tints (as blushes) are really gorgeous and the peachy tone shades look more natural on WOC (Grapefruit and Apricot).  The tints are scented like the fruit they’re named after and apply beautifully.  I’m not normally a fan of scented cosmetics but the scent is only noticeable when you first apply the product.

My favourite, without a doubt, is Grapefruit, followed by Guava and Apricot.  My least favourite (surprisingly) was Watermelon.  I really wanted to love the Watermelon shade and even tried using it as a lip tint, but alas no success.

I love the little tubes that the Beach Tints come in. They are small and therefore don’t take up too much room in my cosmetics organiser (major plus), are the perfect size for travelling and are best applied with your fingers (so no need to reach for your blush brush).

The only annoying thing is that of the four shades I own, three of shades squeeze out a bit of excess clear liquid before I actually get to the product. I tried shaking it vigorously before squeezing the tube but the excess clear liquid still comes pouring out. That has been the only negative when it comes to application, because the excess liquid when mixed with the actual tint waters down the product. If this happens to you, just wipe off the excess liquid with a tissue and try to avoid mixing it with the actual tint. That minor matter aside, I would have to say that it’s fairly simple to apply, even for cheek tint novices like me.

The obvious thing with these tints is that they’re very expensive. When I was talking to the Becca consultant about them, she said that they last a really long time because you only need a tiny amount. For lighter complexions this holds true.  For darker complexions, you’ll probably need a little more.  With Grapefruit, which is obviously in regular rotation for me, I need about two layers before I’m happy with it (I could even push for three layers). As with all blushes, you can layer to your heart’s content but if you’re the type of person who wears a lot of blush, then the cost of this product may be a prohibitive.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Topaz (SPF 25+)

Cost – AUD $66 / USD $41 for 50ml

Rush out and go get this!

This product is beautiful on and is even better mixed in with your foundation or tinted moisturizer. I’ve been mixing it in with my NARS Tinted Moisturiser and I love the way it makes my skin look.  It makes it look radiant and healthy. It gives you that sun-kissed look without the UV damage it takes to achieve such a look.

There are only 3 colours in the range (Pearl, Opal and Topaz) that are permanently available and my shade is Topaz which is a gorgeous golden brown/bronze colour. In this miserable winter weather we’ve been having (enough with the rain already!), it gives my skin the little lift it needs to shine (not in a greasy way, but a JLo way! LOL).

I have nothing but love for this product.  It has cemented its place as a staple in my makeup routine.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector I’m so glad I’ve found you!

A little warning – I did try mixing this in with my MAC Face & Body foundation, but it didn’t look as good as it does with my NARS Tinted Moisturiser and I wouldn’t try that particular combo again.
