Miss C has has selected her favourite products for March – M.A.C Shop’s Optimistic Orange and Florida Cremeblend blushes.
I have talked about my good friend Miss C before – her makeup collection is amazeeeeeeeee and very different from mine. She loves pigments and bright eyeshadows in hues I would run screaming from – that’s why her unique collection is a welcomed monthly feature at “I’m Just Saying.”
For the sistas who are down for some boldness and drama to their makeup looks or have NC45 skin – I trust Miss C’s Monthly Favourites will deliver.
Optimistic Orange is gorgeous on and these Cremeblend blushes are a great addition to your makeup staples. Unfortunately these colours are limited edition from the M.A.C Shop collection – hopefully M.A.C will release them again as a re-promote.
Both blushes are incredibly vibrant and are a bright orange and fuchsia respectively. Optimistic Orange is a very true orange, while Florida is a fuchsia with blue undertones.
These blushes have a smooth crème texture, just like a lipstick.
Application is easy. I find it best applying it with my fingers as it’s easier to blend out that way. I’ve tried applying it with a duo fibre brush but the result isn’t the same compared to using your fingers. Also if you apply too much (which is very easy with this formula), using your figures to blend it out is a lot more forgiving.
On my skin tone (NC45), Optimistic Orange is the easier to wear of the two colours.
I can wear Optimistic Orange with a base of foundation/tinted moisturiser or without (where I simply add a bit of colour to my cheeks when I’m just wearing a plain moisturiser). Whereas with Florida, I probably wouldn’t wear it without a base because it doesn’t look as natural even when blended out (hence I feel like can’t get away with wearing it without a foundation or tinted moisturiser on at least). I’ve been wearing these blushes to work and they wear about 7 hours on me before they begin to fade however it doesn’t fade enough to make me want to reapply it. In fact, I’ve worn it for 14 hours straight and it still did the job.
The best thing about these blushes is that they’re multi-purpose. You could wear this product on your lips and on your eyes as a base.
USD$20 / AUD$41
Miss C’s Scale
Optimistic Orange – 5/5
Florida – 3/5 on me but I’m sure on lighter skin tones, this shade would rate higher. Everything else about the product is great.
If you’re in Australia and you don’t want to fork out $41 on a blush, you can achieve the same look using a similarly coloured lipstick.
