What is this Maybelline Fit Me business all about? According to Maybelline it is the first shade-aligned system of foundation, concealer, powder and blush. Allows you to be yourself. FIT ME’s weightless formulas of foundation, powder, concealer, blush and bronzer allow you to do just that.
The Maybelline Fit Me foundation that matches my skin tone is 230 in Natural Buff. It has yellow/golden undertones. It is very close to M.A.C NC35 Studio Fix in colour.
Kudos to Maybelline for developing shades that aren’t solely for white women with pink undertones in their skin. Drugstore brands are really stepping up their diversity game. After all, Queen Beyonce was the face of Fit Me and she is of mixed ethnicity – African-American and French Creole.
The Fit Me line (consisting of concealer, pressed powder, bronzer and blush) has a numbering system (it also has names) where shades starting with 1 are light, 2 medium tones and 3 deep. There are 18 shades of foundation in total check out your colour at the Maybelline Fit Me website. Check out full swatches of the colours at Productrater.
The Fit Me formula is supposed to allow your natural skin to show through. The Maybelline website claims that it’s exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin’s natural highs and lows to show through.
Out the bottle the texture of the formula is quite viscous somewhat similar to that of M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid – however slightly thinner. It is very easy to blend and work with.
The formula has no oils, no waxes and is non-comedogenic and dermatologist-tested. It is also SPF18+.
I use my flat BYS foundation brush to apply the Fit Me foundation, applying to the centre of my face and working outwards in criss-cross motions. It has great slip.
This offers light to medium coverage so if you have blemish prone skin or pigmented/discoloured you are not going to get the coverage a heavier foundation such as M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid can give you which offers a medium to buildable full coverage.
Fit Me foundation looks great on after you’ve just applied it, it gives off a sheer glow/sheen making your skin look fresh and very much like you’ve got naturally beautiful skin. The colour 230 matches very well to my skin tone when blended.
However, this foundation unfortunately as other reviewers have testified to – doesn’t last the full day. It disappears and wears off through the day not in patches or anything. If you have flawless skin underneath than this is probably a non-issue – but for those of us with skin issues this will probably be unsuitable to your needs.
Oily or combination skin girls will find that this doesn’t help their oily skin and after a few hours (even after setting it with M.A.C Mineralize Skin Finish Natural) of wear I noticed I started to get an oily t-zone. I don’t have oily skin but in the summer time (it is still warm here in Australia) my t-zone tends to get shiny. This may be a good foundation for me in the cooler months.
Sistas with flawless dry skin or those who are seeking light coverage will really enjoy the Fit Me foundation.

Maybelline gets mad props for the shade range, but if you are looking for a long lasting formula with a fuller coverage look elsewhere. Great quality product for the price point – just know that you are going to get sheer, breathable coverage.
If you ARE looking for a medium coverage drugstore foundation with a good shade range for darker skin tones I recommend picking up the Revlon ColorStay Foundation.
